Common Stump Problems in Mequon
Mequon’s larger properties can turn stump removal into more than a one-stump project. A homeowner may remove several mature trees along a wooded lot line, open up an overgrown section of the property or clear trees around a future lawn or landscape project. Once the trunks are gone, leftover stumps and spreading root flare can still prevent mowing, planting or grading across the area.
Other Mequon jobs involve mature trees closer to homes, driveways, gardens or established landscaping. Large maples, ash and other older trees can leave wide bases with surface roots extending several feet beyond the stump. Grinding only the center may not solve the full problem if raised roots continue across the lawn.
For multi-stump properties, half-day or full-day grinding packages provide an alternative to individual per-inch pricing. Before work starts, we contact Diggers Hotline for public utility markings. Property owners should identify private irrigation, invisible pet fencing, landscape lighting and other buried lines. Standard grinding reaches at least 6 inches below grade, while deeper grinding is available for projects requiring additional clearance.
